One thing that’s lacking from my bar at home is a gin bottle. Normally I don’t need gin, because whiskey will always do, but you need a full bar, right? Bombay or Hendrick’s were the obvious choices, but then I came across Brooklyn Gin. The amazing bottle sure makes up for the lack of a real web site, or the fact that I don’t even know if it’s any good. At this rate I might have my whole bar from Brooklyn (see here).
Trojanowski Liqours in Williamsburg sells it, and it’s also sold elsewhere around New York. They have it on the shelf at one of my new favorite bars, next to my friends’ new place, The Drink. If you’re in Manhattan, Freemans also has it.Check out this article in the New York Times.Photo Credit: From Brooklyn Gin’s website.

Beer consumers know Sixpoint as Brooklyn’s craft beer you can grab at the bar, or pick up at the local store with a growler. This weekend many New Yorkers will be able to kickoff Summer in front of the grill, with no need of a growler, with Sixpoint’s new canned beer. These gorgeous cans will be hard to miss on the shelf (if there are any left), but of course very easy to consume.

: Aussie James Gulliver Hancock is attempting to draw every buildings in New York. Now while my first reaction was: this is gonna be like Sufjan Stevens doing an album for every state, I’m being led on. I quickly decided it doesn’t much matter because not only are the illustrations thoroughly enjoyable with an element of neighborhood pride, but homeboy’s making some progress.

The illustration medium—from pen sketches to full-color, to sharpie—and subject matter—from the empire state building to ambiguous fire escapes— also vary pretty significantly. My favorite diversion recently was a series of snow-bedecked cars.

I was informed when I moved to New York City the winters were not as bad as Boston. Since moving down to New York City a year and a half ago New York has had their two worst winters (with plenty of ridiculous panicking, and superb plowing) in a row, plus the sixth worst snow storm in city history. Boston’s winters have followed be, yet left the plowing behind. Then came January 18, 2010, the slush, the rain, the unshoveled sidewalks of semi-frozen ice…the real New York City weather I was expecting. Yay!Since I can remember I have never owned a rain boot in my life. Mainly due to stubbornness, with a bit of “I don’t like the way they look”. Until now, thanks to Need Supply Co who have a good looking boot that not only comes off manly and handsome while trekking through the wintry-mix, but I think I need! Not to forget someones birthday is March 9th. Wink, nudge.

A little insight into a day in the life of Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist.

I interviewed him for the Village Voice once and he was really sweet and chatty, which are the best possible qualities for a Q&A. We talked about how cool old baseball uniforms were, and how he’s not a fan of the Yankees’ new poly-blend pinstripes.
