If I was to pick one place to stay all Summer hands down it would be where I spent most every Summer when I was little, Newport Rhode Island. High up on this list would be this place, Captain Jack’s Wharf cabins in Provincetown, on the tip of Cap Cod.

My mother lives right under the Cape, and I have lived in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts to the age of 23, and I’ve only been to Hyannis once. It’s great if you want to spend your weekend in traffic, but it’s hard to avoid the gorgeous scenes and atmosphere of the Cape.

Sign me up for one of these cabins, and someone fork over 2k for a weekend! Bah! It’s insane that you can rent my mothers house for two weeks for that price, but whatever these cabins look so relaxing to me, this needs to happen one day. These cabins are one of those Summers places you’re meant to track in sand, and throw your towel wherever you please.

I bet the water pressure sucks, but who cares!

This could be your morning commute.

As long as I stay away from Bedford Ave I love my neighborhood. Recently while walking by one of my favorite intersections that is Metropolitan and Havemeyer Street which was outed by New York Magazine back in January, I noticed Saltie had a new neon sign. Unlike them I thought, but it wasn’t actually Saltie, it was Momofuku’s Milk who opened their storefront after having a pop-up shop that never seemed to close. I’m not a big fan of the too-rich Momofuku cookies, but these fruit in a cup wonders look a lot more my style, and they’re so damn close to my place.Read Village Voice (Fork in the Road) piece about Momofuku’s Milk, because they actually know what their talking about. Been looking around for a tank top which doesn’t suck. Most have god awful designs, or have been marked up so high I have to realize that it’s a tank top, cashmere sweater. It’s already getting hotter, and soon it will be balls hot, making t-shirts and deodorant seem to be too much on the weekend. I think I’ve finally have found a couple that suit my style, as well as much price. Has anyone purchased any of these thank tops, if so liked them? My one worry is Levi’s fit might be made for a guy with baggier style.

When I was young I spent every Summer in Newport. Now I try and get back up to Newport as much as possible. The Newport Folk Festival was something that was always happening every Summer, but as a young kid I had no interest in folk music. Fast forward a bunch of years and I’ve been quite impressed with the lineups the Newport Folk Festival has put together.I went one year, years ago with my mother. I think the Indigo Girls were the headliner (not a fan), but I remember it was a lot of fun to chill in the sun listening to all sorts of music while drinking Del’s Lemonade (which I’ve always supported becoming Rhode Island’s state drink, to oust Coffee Milk). Huge names such as Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan have played in front of Fort Adams in Newport, and the talent hasn’t declined at all since, as they had a personal favorite Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros last year which was streamed live by NPR (this year too). This year The Decemberists, Elvis Costello, Tegan & Sara, and my favorite on the ticket, the Freelance Whales will be performing.Like last year I’ve started trying to plan on how I could manage to make it up to Newport at the end of July to finally make it to the festival for the first time in a long time, and hopefully plan to bike home after the shows.I saw on Tumblr last night Tumblr-“famous” That Kind of Woman will be attending.

What an appropriate time to talk about gelato then on a day with mounds of snow on the streets. Once this mess melts PopBar might be my first day of Summer activity. I’m craving these so much from the pictures. This is coming from the kid who lived in the Little Italy of Boston (North End) and never tasted gelato. This will all end once the sun comes out.
