Recently I’ve been having some superb weekends (like the weekend before last’s pool party) and this weekend was no exception as it was Mackenzie’s brithday evening of surprisesĀ (from me). It began with a night at the Ace Hotel in my favorite named New York hood NoMad. It’s easily the best thought out, curated, and run hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Easily. I totally reccommend it, and really can’t wait to go back.

After some relaxation I got a pair of Shakespeare in the Park tickets for Friday’s showing of All’s Well That Ends Well as part two of the birthday evening. If you get the chance to grab tickets you’ll be amazed at the quality of the production.

Before the show we had an hour to kill so we strolled around Central Park. Because of the chance of rain, the park was dead. The mist/fog made the skyline disappear and it felt like we were back in theĀ burbs.

Also, had some time to make a quick gif before the show.

Following Shakespeare we grabbed some food at The Breslin, located in the Ace Hotel. I enjoyed my first Lamb Burger with a side of fries. It was the richest meat I’ve ever had. I could have been happy with half of it. Mackenzie snagged mussels which would generally be my go-to.

Of course we woke up to some delicious Stumptown Coffee, and enormous macarons. After that it was back to reality.

I was informed when I moved to New York City the winters were not as bad as Boston. Since moving down to New York City a year and a half ago New York has had their two worst winters (with plenty of ridiculous panicking, and superb plowing) in a row, plus the sixth worst snow storm in city history. Boston’s winters have followed be, yet left the plowing behind. Then came January 18, 2010, the slush, the rain, the unshoveled sidewalks of semi-frozen ice…the real New York City weather I was expecting. Yay!Since I can remember I have never owned a rain boot in my life. Mainly due to stubbornness, with a bit of “I don’t like the way they look”. Until now, thanks to Need Supply Co who have a good looking boot that not only comes off manly and handsome while trekking through the wintry-mix, but I think I need! Not to forget someones birthday is March 9th. Wink, nudge.
